SABISHA, a new book documenting the multidisciplinary artist Sabisha Friedberg in her studios in New York and Paris.
The book launches Ami’s new series CATALYST which explores those whose vision has profoundly shaped the trajectories of others’ lives and practices.
SABISHA emerged from a desire to excavate the origins of Ami’s own photographic practice. What began as documentation of Friedberg’s work evolved into an exploration of identity and persona through the photographic act.
SABISHA is a portrait and mirror; a meditation on photography itself while presenting an artist whose practice continues to influence and inspire. The photographs of Sabisha unveil her life as an artist and musician, exploring the balance between intimate studio moments and public presentation — the creation of the interior and exterior, all of which are a part of artistic practice.
Shot entirely on 35mm and 120 film in black and white and color, the book offers an unvarnished yet lyrical portrait of artistic process.
